So I don't know if there is any formalities I should be following but I started this site because of the recent information I found about other Otherkin out there. I knew from a young age I was not part of the mainstream. For a while I just figured I was just a bit odd. As I learned about people I realized how different I am. I can't be O.K. with much of what happens. Much of it baffles me. How can people not honor each persons choices and differences and celebrate the diversity. Just because someone believes something does not discount what you believe even if they are complete opposites. Why the uproar if they call the divine by a different name? Is this such a radical view?
Anyway as I explored I realized that I was not only different in views but in some fundamental ways. I was ridiculed and teased even by one of my mates. So I stopped telling people for a long time. I think the community I'm in now is much better, more understanding, and some are Otherkin too. Pagan communities seem to be not only tolerant, but better informed than the general population.
One of the things I am starting to see is how often Otherkin seems to run in families. Have others found this too? Of course it's hard to go far into our ancestors unless you are one of the lucky few raised in accepting families that were raised excepting that some of the family had this unique aspect. Another thing I'm wondering about is does this mean my children will be Otherkin of the same kind as their parents. My husband is Dragon otherkin and I'm Elf.
Well hope to learn more. Blessed be.
